With the release of Star Wars Battlefront 2 came the ability to play as the Separatists Droid Army again and so some players were hoping for a return of some of the original games more famous reinforcements, in this case it was the Droideka. Some fans were disappointed that there was no Star Wars Battlefront 2 Droideka reinforcement but there is a chance that the unit will be added in the future of the game.
With Star Wars Battlefront 2 announcing that it is switching to a free DLC model with this year’s game there is a good chance that more reinforcement units may be added in the future which could put fuel to the fire of a possible Star Wars Battlefront 2 Droideka addition for the Droid Army.
There have been some rumblings of a possible Clone Wars season to be introduced in the future after some leakers found a model of the Separatist leader General Grievous. With a Clone Wars season comes the potential for there to be extra weapons, maps, heroes and reinforcements which could lead to the introduction of the Droideka.
Some fans have pointed to the reason for no Star Wars Battlefront 2 Droideka being it’s complicated design. The three legged, shield deploying and ball transforming modes of the unit make it a very complex and time consuming design for even the most skilled animators which has also been given as a reason for the delay of the multi limbed General Grievous.
There is every chance for this special unit to be given a place on the Battlefront but for now all we can do is wait and speculate on the future of free content which will be added to Star Wars Battlefront 2 through the years.
