Almost every single player characters' physical appearance is based on their real life voice actor.

Kevin Spacey's character, Jonathan Irons, holds a very negative attitude towards the US government, unlike his TV persona, Frank Underwood.

Sixth Call of Duty game to be based in the future

Irons: People don't want freedom. They want boundaries, rules. Protection. From invaders and from themselves. People need a leader who can give them both the support and the constraints to keep chaos at bay. You give them that, and they'll follow... And that's where I come in.

Irons: Many of you have been asking questions. The most common being 'are we in the stages of developing a weapon capable of mass destruction?' The answer is no. Because we've already built it.

Easter Eggs

On the mission Throttle, there is a difficult to access test weapon called WEAPON_RPG. It is an old RPG-7 and appears to not have been intended to show up on the map as it does very little damage and does not possess firing noises

On the map Detroit, a cinema billboard can be seen showing the letters DG2. This is a reference to the Wunderwuffle DG2 which first appeared in Call of Duty World at War

On the mission Manhunt when you gain control of the wasp if you shoot the guard talking to Gideon through the van window Gideon will say "Boring conversation anyway" This is the same line Han Solo delivers after he shoots the console when Gideon and Luke break into the detention area to rescue Leia.
