Call of Duty Ghosts User Reviews

This new chapter in the Call of Duty® franchise features a fresh dynamic where players are on the side of a crippled nation fighting not for freedom, or liberty, but simply to survive.

Ten years after a devastating mass event, the nation's borders and the balance of global power have been redrawn forever. As what's left of the nation's Special Operations forces, a mysterious group known only as "Ghosts" leads the fight back against a newly emerged, technologically-superior global power.

The opening scene of the game is an exact copy of the ending from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but with different characters.

Most of the characters and weapons in the game are named after other characters and weapons from Modern Warfare 2. The Ghosts are named after Modern Warfare 2 character Ghost and even have masks made after the mask Ghost wears. Riley the German shepherd is named after Ghost's real name, (Simon Riley), and the honey badger assault rifle is named after an assault vehicle from Modern Warfare 2.

Female soldiers are playable for the first time in multiplayer, not counting Nazi Zombies. A female astronaut named Kyra Mosley also briefly serves as your combat partner in the prologue mission. After the prologue, though, there are no notable female characters in the story

The DLC packs for Ghosts have added a number of rather whimsical special characters to the multiplayer modes, including Michael Myers, The Predator, ghost pirates, and a revolver dual-wielding Mexican mariachi with the ability to turn killed enemies into clones of himself. As Infinity Ward's previous entries in the series have generally stuck to a "hard realism" edge, this seems to be them trying to show that, yes, they actually do have a sense of humor too.

David 'Hesh' Walker: [Last words just as Logan is dragged away by Rorke] Logan. Logan! LOGAN!

Elias T. Walker: [In the introduction of "The Hunted"] There are ancient tribes, deep in the Amazon, who have perfected the art of torture over hundreds of years. The Federation embraced this heritage, enhancing it with more sophisticated methods. They kept Rorke in a hole for months... feeding him foods mixed with the poisons of exotic plants. As they broke down his body, they went to work on his mind. When his mind broke, they went to work on his soul. They rebuilt what was left, twisting him to their purposes. The process was excruciating and exacting. Rorke was their Ghost now. The perfect weapon to use against us.

Easter Eggs

In the multiplayer map "Flooded", it is possible to find a broken vent with a secret ladder on it, which leads to a teddy bear.

On the map "Prison Break", a monkey can be found in a tree holding a circular saw.

On the map "Point of Contact" in Extinction mode, shooting the glowing L, then O, and then the L again on the "Gil's Lodge Motel" sign will display the acronym "LOL" on the screen, and cause all aliens killed within the next few minutes to explode into golden martian plushies.
